Song Notes...

Fool of Me(Miars)
“Re-imagined” by Greg Vulcan at Vulcan studios in Caledonia, sung quite nicely by newest band singer Rebecca Carlisle. This song “came to me” one year while I was taking down my Christmas Tree.
White Rabbit( originally by Jefferson Airplane)
Great Cover tune that Rebecca sounded great on, recorded at Vulcan.
Superficial Tourist (Dec/Olson)
Roz Clayton and Jimmy produced this gem, a great mix of Brother in Law Stan Dec’s music and bass player Alan’s lyrics. One of my faves.
A Forest (originally by The Cure)
A tune CWS has covered for years, given fresh perspective by Greg with his manic guitar parts. Recorded at Vulcan Studios. One of our first CWS singers “Princess” Sarah Seeley sang the vocal.
Boots/Strange Fire (originally by Nancy Sinatra)
I was joking during production of this tune that Vulcan Studios might be a victim to Arson (long story….buy me a beer sometime, I’ll fill you in), which is where the “strange fire” comments come from in this rather odd song, sung by the lovely Rebecca, produced by Greg.
Wouldn’t Be The First Time (Miars/Olson)
Roz’s final vocal project for a recording class at GRCC, Stan made it extra special with all his thoughtful guitar parts. It’s our first recorded original song and one of my favorites.
Excuse Me (originally by Whiskeytown)
This ripper cover tune was brought back to life by Greg at Vulcan Studios, sung by Princess Sarah . Holy Rippin’ Riffs!
Whiskey River Saloon Jingle (Miars)
Jimmy used this jingle to procure a TV Ad client, recorded by Kirk Stewart at our rehearsal studios.
A Thousand Roses (Miars)
Inspired by band fan Danny Parm, this “re-imagined” version features Rebecca on vocal. Produced by Greg at Vulcan.
Grandvilla Restaurants Jingle (Miars)
Another fun jingle that got Jimmy a client, produced by Roz and Jimmy at GRCC downtown. Took 2 frickin’ years to finish!
You Wouldn’t Love Me Back (Miars)
Written over four lonely Chinese Buffett lunches, Jimmy’s nephew, Graham Gentry, composed and recorded his piano in the GR Studio over two visits with his friend Dane tagging along. Months later, I prodded Sarah to record the vocal (I brought the recorder to her house), and I also dubbed in the rainstorms from an effects CD I borrowed from Vinnie at work. It’s a little long, but it has a nice melancholy feel to it that fits the bill.
Michigan Backwater Demo (Miars)
Greg Vulcan would be mortified to know I took a nicely recorded guitar /mandolin track he produced and ran it through my crappy portable recorder. I had to get it to Princess Sarah. Sounds a little barren, which adds to the wonderfully depressing lyrics.
